Mama and Pops!

Heavenly Father is so smart.. Yesterday we weren't able to check emails because it was Labor day and the library was closed! So good thing right? (:

I am so glad things are going well! How fun to have those kiddos to help you. I can't wait to meet them eventually!

Things have been good here. It's definitely been difficult. I never really realized how much harder missionary work is... from physical to emotional to spiritual. It's pretty hard. But although I struggle sometimes and want to go home, I know that there are people I need to meet so that the Lord things and trusts that I can help. And recognizing that if I am a willing and obedient servant of the Lord, those people I meet will recognize me as a respresentative of the Lord and feel the Spirit. And by being that type of servant of the Lord, the Spirit will be able to teach them of the truthfulness of our message.

Missionary work is so rewarding and admidst all the doubt and desire to want to come home, I know that I just need to trust in the Lord and rely on Him and I will be able to do many things because of Him.

So this past weekend we were able to volunteer at the local community triathalon. It was amazing! We met so many great people! One person in particular, her name is Jenn. She is 49 and has ran in about 76 triathalons. She made it a goal to run one in all 50 states and this was her second to last state! Her last one is in Hawaii! But she is an ovarian cancer survivor and the reason she is running all these is to raise money for the ovarian cancer research fund. How amazing is that?! She started this 50 state triathalon thing when she turned 40 and so she has ran all of them in 9 years. So crazy! But that was a fun opportunity for us to get associated with the community and show them our love for them and desire to serve them. One of the Head Honcho's of the triathalon named Pat, is a part owner of the Packers! WHAT! I about died. He always wore Green Bay attire and I was in heaven. He gave me one of his hats... Which is absolutely sweet. I'll attach a picture of it! But that was way cool too!

So this one time Sister Johnson and I were tracting and it was about 8:15 at night (which is the worst time to tract ehre because its so dark and the neighborhoods are so creepy) but the sky was all cloudy and we knocked on someones door and they were like, "Why are you girls outside! There's a storm warning!!!" and we were like, "oh,,... we didn't know!" haha and so, instinctively we decided to knock on another door... and a guy answered.. he had his shirt off and long hair and a beard.. And of course, he rejected us and told us to go home... So as we were walking Sister Johnson looked back and he was standing in his doorway just staring at us. So she was like uhhh he's staring at us.. and I just bolted running hahaha. She was like, "SISTER ALLEN!" and it was really funny. But terrifying. And by this time the stormw as getting worse and then it started raining really hard on us and then we both started running and it was intense. I'll add the video from that night... It's pretty hilarious.

So the first week we were here we were tracting at night and I swear, the mosquitos LOVE me.... I had counted about 65 mosquito bites after the first weekend being here. I looked like I had chicken pox. It was insane. But I didn't get a picture of it... sorry!!

So, Hot Springs is known as the Veterans home. So cool! But because of that, there are sooooo many older people... haha. And there are VA Hospitals for the veterans that went a little crazy after. But we hear all about it and stories of how people walk around and act like they are reliving the war. It's sad how that affects people so much): I'm glad mckay didn't get any of that!

Well... it's been quite fun. Teaching is going alright. We are trying to focus on the less actives because we counted and they have 122 less active people in our branch. What?!? haha. So we have been trying the ones in hot springs. Theres about 50 here. Our area also includes towns called edgemont, fairburn, custer, and pringle. So its pretty big! But we aren't able to go to the other areas very much because we have only a certain amount of miles for our car. And we have a huge quad meeting this month and so they took some of our miles to give to the other missioanries in farther areas. So, that's what we've been doing. Not many lessons to teach but a lot of knocking doors. But its been good. Well... I'll add some pictures! I love you all and can't wait to hear more from you! Ya'll are the best!

Letters are honestly a gift from heaven during the week. It keeps me staying positive and helps a lot. Just if you wanted to tell people! Anyways... I love you all and miss ya a bunch!

Loveeee you,
Sister Allen
